At Urdang we believe that everyone is created equal and we do not discriminate against appearance or circumstance. At Urdang, we nurture Everyone, Individual.
Urdang Academy was founded on Leonie Urdang’s vision to encourage individuality and diversity within the performing arts industry. This was a revolutionary ethos at the time of our founding in 1970 as we refused to let inequality, racism and uniformity pervade our approach to the performing arts in the same way that it pervaded the world around us. At Urdang we believe that everyone is created equal and we do not discriminate against appearance or circumstance.
Despite the changes we’ve seen to the world around us since our founding and Urdang’s evolution through it all, the core values Urdang was founded on continue to be our primary guideposts for performing arts training today.
Now with Solange Urdang at the helm since 2001, the Academy continues to thrive and is recognised as one of the UK’s finest performing arts colleges, accredited by the Council for Dance Education and Training (UK) and awarded Grade 1 Outstanding by Ofsted across all areas in November 2015.
Urdang may have heart at the centre of its vision, but it has excellence as its goal. Demand for places is high and the competition is fierce. Support and advice is teamed with a high level of expectation and discipline, ensuring Urdang stays at the forefront of the industry. Urdang aims to work with its students to unleash their potential and help them achieve their dreams.
Urdang continually reviews its provision in order to stay at the forefront of the industry and continue engaging students in the most compelling ways. Urdang constantly looks at how it supports both its students and it’s presence in the industry by staying aware of the latest industry trends and balancing those insights with the needs of its students.
