Urdang Associates offers training in Dance and Musical Theatre for ambitious and talented young performers who wish to take their pre-vocational training to the next level.
This programme is a unique opportunity to work alongside other like-minded, passionate and highly motivated students and to experience professional level masterclasses with visiting industry specialists and established Urdang faculty, all within a working college environment.
Whilst open to everyone, Urdang Associates is a selective course, and only a limited number of places are made available each year to the most talented applicants who show true potential to have a career in theatre.
Urdang Associates is developed exclusively for the next generation of musical theatre and dance performers. It is an opportunity for each year group of Associates to be trained by some of the best in the business so that each Associate can stellify into the best version of themselves as a performer.
Urdang Associates is split into 3 separate divisions:
|Junior Associates||Mid Associates||Senior Associates|
|Ages 8-10||Ages 11-14||Ages 15-17|
Within each group the programme offers 3 different, more focused specialist tracks. This is determined prior to commencing the course and related to the specific interests and skills of each student.
This exclusive programme has been developed to incorporate all the skills required for successful dance and musical theatre training.
The Associates track system allows you to choose subjects to fit with your primary interests and strengths in the performing arts. This allows you to explore your interests in greater detail and become more specialised in specific areas of the performing arts.
Triple Threat Track: has a strong focus on all areas that help to create a well-rounded musical theatre performer/dancer. If successful at audition, you will study the following modules: ballet, technical jazz, ensemble singing, musical theatre jazz and acting through song.
Dance Track: has a strong focus on the core technical subjects and aims to produce strong, well-rounded dancers. If successful at audition, you will study the following: ballet, technical jazz, dance conditioning, commercial, ensemble singing as well as one off masterclasses in other areas of dance such as musical theatre jazz, lyrical, commercial, tap, hip-hop.
Musical Theatre Track: has a strong focus on the core technical subjects and aims to produce a strong, well rounded musical theatre performer. If successful at audition you will study the following: technical singing, acting, acting through song, technical jazz, musical theatre jazz and integrated performance.
A strict uniform policy is in place to represent the highest standards of image, grooming, attendance and behaviour representative of the discipline required for the industry.
