Brexit

Urdang Academy has always proudly welcomed students and staff from the EU, EEA and Switzerland.

On January 31st 2020 the UK officially left the EU. There is now a transition period until the end of 2020 while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements. The current rules on trade, travel, and business for the UK and EU will continue to apply during the transition period. New rules will take effect on 1 January 2021.

Check how to get ready for new rules in 2021

Although we recognise that the ongoing uncertainty about Brexit is unsettling, we will continue to monitor developments and help you understand what is happening. Please continue to check this page. While we will try to keep this information as up-to-date as possible, due to the pace of change we cannot be held liable for any inaccuracies and would encourage you to also check official channels.

Regularly updated Brexit FAQs for universities and students are also available on the Universities UK website.

If you’re a national of an EU member state, or of Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein or Switzerland and will be studying with us in 2020/21 you are advised to apply for pre-settled or settled status free of charge before 30 June 2021.

Current students

If you are on our BA (Hons) Degree you can still reapply for Student Finance for the academic year 2020/21 and (if required) 2021/22 via www.gov.uk

We anticipate that there may be working restrictions after 31 December 2020, but do not yet know what these might be. Until 31 December 2020, EU, EEA and Swiss citizens will be free to work in the UK as they do now.

If you plan to remain in the UK after you graduate you should apply to stay under the above settlement scheme before 30 June 2021.

This information doesn’t apply to Irish citizens: you will have the right to continue to enter and live in the UK under Common Travel Area Arrangements.

Incoming students

We know that EU, EEA and Swiss students who want to study in the UK may be concerned about issues such as fees and immigration. Urdang can assure you that for the academic year 2020/21:

  • There are no changes to fee eligibility for EU, EEA and Swiss students
  • BA (Hons) Degree students can still apply for Student Finance for the duration of their course from March 2020 via www.gov.uk
  • You will not need an immigration visa if you arrive in the UK before 1 January 2021, when we expect the rules will change.

We anticipate that there may be working restrictions after 31 December 2020, but do not yet know what these might be. Until 31 December 2020, EU, EEA and Swiss citizens will be free to work in the UK as they do now.

This information doesn’t apply to Irish citizens: you will have the right to continue to enter and live in the UK under Common Travel Area Arrangements.

Open Days & Auditions 2020/2021

Open days

Open days
All our Open Days are now fully booked.

We now recommend making an online application. We audition everyone who applies. Click on APPLY NOW for more details.

On the audition day candidates will spend all day at the Urdang and get the chance to speak to staff and current students. Parents/guardians will also be given an introductory talk by staff at the beginning of the day.

If you have any further enquiries please email: admissions@theurdang.london

Auditions

Auditions
Urdang Academy is currently closed for the time being due to COVID-19.

While we await official government advice on the timescale for our continued closure, Urdang is now advising that all students who have applied for a place for 2020 entry, but have yet to be auditioned, make a video audition.

If you have applied for an audition in March. April or May you will receive an email from us in due course with details of what to prepare on video.

We understand this is not an ideal solution, but at least it gives us a chance to assess you sooner, rather than later in case we are unable to host you for your audition. You will not be assessed on the quality of the video production, but on your potential as a performer.

If you are unable to make a video then do let us know. We may be able to make alternative arrangements later in the year or we can offer you a free audition for 2021 entry. Online applications will go live in September.

Please email the College Administrator, Will Bird, on: will@theurdang.london if you have any further queries.

Applications

Applications for 2020 Entry

Urdang Academy is currently closed for the time being due to COVID-19.

Unfortunately Urdang will no longer be accepting applications and video submissions for our BA (Hons) Degree or 3 year Level 6 Diploma after our advertised deadline of the 31st May.

There are a few vacancies on our 16+ 2 year Level 3 OCR (AVT) Diploma and our 1 year 18+ Foundation Course so we can still accept online applications and videos for these until 12th June.

Don’t forget to let us know which course you are applying for when sending us your videos.

We appreciate the problems in filming a video audition under the current circumstances and are grateful to the hundreds of candidates who have managed to do so over the past 2 months, however there has to be a cut-off date when courses start to fill up.

If you have already paid for an audition, but not been able to film a video in time, please email us to request a refund of your audition fee with the name of the person who paid for it.

Applications for 2021 entry will go live in September when we will have a better idea of how we run all auditions in the future.

If you require further information please email admissions@theurdang.london
