In July Jodi, aged 21, was awarded the title of International Voice of Musical Theatre at the Llangollen Eisteddfod 2019. Jodi, wowed audiences and adjudicators with her performances of Woman, originally sung by Stephanie J Block, tell me on a Sunday by Marti Webb and 14, a stand-alone piece written by Jeanine Tesori but made famous by Kristin Chenoweth, on the stage of the Royal International Pavilion in the competition’s final.
“I’m overwhelmingly excited for a trip to the Gold Coast where I’ll get the opportunity to perform.”
As winner of the coveted title she receives an international Medal, £1,500 prize money and the opportunity to perform at the Musicale Concert Gold Coast Eisteddfod in Austrailia.
Rob Archibald, Co-Principal of Musical Theatre at Urdang Academy comments “We are delighted to see Jodi getting such well-deserved recognition, she is a hugely gifted and talented student and we look forward to seeing her career as a performer develop and flourish.”
Following this success Jodi was also recently awarded the Ian Fleming Award from Help Musicians UK, an award that was established to help musical theatre students with the costs of final year undergraduate or postgraduate study.
