Chloe almost missed out on bringing her musical theatre talents to Urdang
Chloe was training in musical theatre at the Brit School in Croydon when Urdang visited to speak about opportunities for further training in the performing arts. Urdang immediately piqued Chloe’s interest and after some deliberation, Chloe applied, although she did not think she would get in. After all, she knew of Urdang as a great dance school and she did not think she had the ‘right’ background.
"I didn’t think I’d get in because I thought it was a dance college and I didn’t have that"
Chloe was pleased to find that her background in musical theatre was warmly welcomed for Urdang’s auditions. Historically, Urdang began as a dance school, but it has evolved into a top tier musical theatre vocational college as well over the last few years. On audition day, Chloe’s talents immediately shone through; she was promptly accepted into the Diploma programme. It turned out that Urdang highly valued her skills in both dance and musical theatre.
Chloe immediately felt at home and comfortable at Urdang. “The atmosphere here is electric, unique, and comfortable like Grandma’s house, but with a lot more energy, haha!”.
She says this feeling comes from how Urdang chooses to train ‘everyone individual’; they’ve never tried to squeeze her into a box, or mold her into a specific student.
Chloe’s interest in acting and singing has evolved since coming to Urdang, now she’s interested in acting on stage and TV. Urdang has helped Chloe develop the discipline required to pursue a career in the performing arts, and she feels like Urdang successfully achieves this by approaching their training in an entirely different way than other colleges.
With the training and discipline Urdang has offered, Chloe is ready to graduate this year and pursue a successful career in the performing arts.
"They don’t treat you like a student, they teach you like a professional in the industry, they give you the discipline for the industry"
