Jordan was training as a street dancer when he went to MoveIt and was blown away by an Urdang performance and knew he wanted to attend the college one day.
But as a specialist in street dance, Jordan wanted to expand some of his skills before he auditioned. So Jordan began learning classical styles so that he could bring his talents to Urdang. At 18 Jordan was ready to audition. Urdang immediately recognised Jordan’s exceptional street dancing talents and highly valued his dedication to broadening and developing his talents.
Unlike other colleges, Urdang is committed to accepting students who exude raw talent and works with each student’s unique talents to raise skill levels across the board. With his openness and dedication, Urdang saw how Jordan could be a great student for the college.
"Urdang is like a massive family. We’re taught to be competitive outside but inside, everyone is rooting for each other. It’s inspiring to see people grow, especially in styles they might have been weak at"
In his first year at Urdang Jordan saw the value of developing skills across all the performing arts and he opened up to singing and acting, making him into a triple threat performer. And the atmosphere at Urdang made this an even more comfortable transition.
Urdang strives to make students feel comfortable exploring and growing. This is part of Urdang’s commitment to train ‘everyone individual’, whatever their background or interest, strength or weakness. Jordan acknowledges this too.
Jordan’s journey is an inspiring one. From a street dance background to learning classical dance to excelling as a triple threat, his journey is indicative of the types of students Urdang seeks and cultivates.
"The track system brings your strengths up a lot more and turns them into the standout thing about you. Urdang finds out that star quality style and makes your spark come out"
